Barcelona, the capital of the Catalonian region in Spain, truly has it all: breathtaking architecture, glorious beaches, hip bars and hotels offering visitors a mix of old-world design and modern sleekness. Barcelona is just as rich as its culture and the secret is out as it is voted year after year as one of the world´s most stylish cities. So what are the reasons behind Forbes including Barcelona on this prestigious list?

Barcelona is blessed with nearly year round sunshine, averaging 7 hours per day, ensuring that the terraces are practically always full of people enjoying a coffee in a hidden square or on one of the many pedestrianized shopping areas in the city. Visit the hip area of Borne and enjoy people watching, or take a stroll around the Ciutadella Park, a vibrant oasis of peace in the heart of the city.

The city is home to some of the most beautiful architecture in the world. One of Barcelona´s most famous residents, Antonio Gaudi, transformed the city with his beautiful buildings including the breathtaking Sagrada famillia, Park Güell and its stunning views of the city and Casa Batlló on the popular shopping street of Passeig de Gracia to name just a few.

We can’t talk about Barcelona without mentioning the food. Barcelona is home to mouthwatering cuisine from some of the most prestigious chefs in the world and has gained an acclaimed international profile. However, don´t worry if you are on a tighter budget there really is something to suit everyone. With new restaurants springing up every week there is always something new to try. Currently brunch is taking the city by storm with every trendy bar and restaurant offering their own version, just don´t be surprised if you have to queue at the weekend at some of the most popular spots!

Shopping is one of Barcelona’s highlights. Offering everything from well know high street brands to the designer brands we all wish we could afford. Stroll up the exclusive Passeig de Gracia or head to Gracia or Borne to seek out local boutiques.

One of our favorite shopping malls is Arenas situated at Plaza Espanya. After a hard day’s shopping why not head up to the roof top area for restaurants and bars galore with stunning views of the cities. This is undoubtedly, one of the best places to watch the Montjuic Fountains and to experience a beautiful sunset over the city.
